If yesterday was experiencing culture, today was being out in nature. We arrived in Taitung quite late but were still in time to listen to some performances at the night market…..more of a craft and dessert market rather than dinner.

Did you buy anything?
There are so many interesting displays. I did…….a chocolate waffle.Yum
One of the most popular activities in the area is to visit the rice paddies in the middle of the rift valley.

This was made famous in an Asian film called “I see you” where the hero rides a bicycle through the fields and then stops under a tree for a cup of tea….that mysteriously seemed to be brewing there.

Having looked at the options, what do you think?

Okay.
We did find a coffee shop that sold Mr Brown coffee. Apparently it is famous in these parts. It is great coffee.
Next stop lunch. We are going where they process the rice, have a restaurant and a shop.

There is a flower farm too…no characters, just flowers.
Don’t get to settled and take a nap. We are heading for the coast to see the eight arch bridge.
There are 544 stairs, 40 up and 40 down each side……then 29 between each arch. I counted them going over to the island and then back. With that wind blowing….i thought you might get blown away.
The view is worth it, isn’t it.
Last stop for the day is also along the coast ……some interesting sculptures. They are near a lookout to see the coast.

More walking in nature tomorrow morning and then a train trip, Be sure to be packed early and ready to go.
